Frenchonista’s Samia went to visit jewelry designer Petra Reijrink in her atelier in The Hague. She was looking forward to doing this for ages, since she is a huge fan of her jewelry. Personally, a lot of Petra’s handmade things take me back me to a fantasy I used to have as a little girl. I used to imagine I lived in a big old house with secret passages and an attic full of treasures — beautiful clothes, necklaces, bracelets and rings that ancestors had left there for me to discover.
Petra’s jewelry often has that retro feel to it and everything is handmade. She travels a lot and is inspired by what she finds and brings home, but also by fashion and by old movies. She works with natural materials, such as freshwater pearls, precious stones, mother of pearl, bronze and coral and she also incorporates vintage elements into her pieces. It’s evident that she puts real love into her work. Therefore, every piece is authentic and one of a kind, totally in line with what Frenchonista represents as well.
Take a look at some pieces Samia owns: A gorgeous bracelet with quartz, and a beautiful vintage ring that was featured in many magazines.
On www.petrareijrink.nl you can find an impression of her collection — please do, it’s really worth it! — and a list of shops where they are sold. You can also like her on Facebook (we did, and we always take time to check out the new items she posts).
